New York City's legendary Lower East Side, one of the oldest, most historically significant and complex quarters in America, encompasses several neighborhoods and enclaves including the East Village, Little Italy, the Bowery and Chinatown. Today the LES is one of the most visited locales in the city, offering a unique combination of historic sites, shopping and eateries.

The Lower East Side History Project is a non-profit organization dedicated to researching, documenting and preserving the history of the greater Lower East Side of New York City.
